Brief

Timesclub application is a product of the Times of India Group(Bennett Coleman & Company) and caters to the Indian expat community residing in the United States. The application offers the best of purchase opportunities and cashback offers. The consumers can then either transfer the cashback amount into their bank accounts or opt for numerous rewards offered. Additionally, there is a concierge service inbuilt into the application using which the users can provide numerous services to their kins residing in India.

Problem Statement

It is estimated that the Indian expats comprise more than 5% of the population of the United States currently. And these expats were looking for something that made them feel connected with their home country. The client wanted to capitalize on this demand by providing them with a curated set of offers. The users could earn cashback; which could further be utilized for purchasing reward offers or for the benefit of their families and friends back home. In addition to rewards, a concierge module was envisioned as offering numerous services (offering maids, send bouquets etc.) also was incorporated into the application.

Approach and Impact

Dew team created an iOS application that is available only on the US App Store. It has been created specifically for the benefit of the residents of the United States- particularly the Indian community. Going forward, more communities may be added to the roster and benefit from the usage of this loyalty and rewards app.
The application has 3 major functionalities-
  1. It provides exclusive access to a curated selection of offers. 
  2. There are a set of rewards available in the form of subscriptions to popular products and features
  3. A Concierge module which allows the users to interact with a service that helps expedite their service needs in India; thereby keeping them connected with their relatives and friends back home. 

Technology Stack

With a requirement that needed extensive research and smaller timelines for delivery, it was important that the technology stack for the application allowed lean development without losing out on the code quality and robustness of services. Consequently, Python was an obvious choice for backend development.
