Brief

iTradeNetwork is a global provider of supply chain management solutions for the food and beverage industry and serves over 8000 related companies in the North American region. They are the leaders in perishable supply chain management and have been around for more than 20 years. The iTrade platform provides a wide range of solutions that includes Order Management, Traceability, Logistics, Fresh Inspection, Spend Analytics, GDSN Compliance, Branded Procurement, Contract Management, and Blockchain.

Problem Statement

The client wanted to revamp existing applications and automate or enhance functionalities; making them more structured, responsive and secure. Besides, they wanted to introduce some new features.
The client already had a technology team and wanted to collaborate with a technology partner who could augment their existing teams and help achieve product excellence in a fast-paced environment, assuring the highest quality simultaneously. The team had to be flexible enough and highly available to be able to work with the client’s team that operates in a different time zone.

Approach, Blockchain implementation and Impact

We recommended the complete technology stack that revamps its existing products, keeping the core legacy itrade application in mind and smooth migration of data from legacy to new applications. Dew Team implemented the solutions after series of discussion with Itrade Engineering Team /Product Managers of various applications for itrade that cater the needs of manufacturers, Growers, Shippers, Retailers and distributors on the Web/Android /IOS platform. Following applications were created as a result.
Fresh– This application has been designed for inspection of food materials to ensure impeccable quality
Trace– As a part of the product traceability initiative, this application “traces” product origin details, source, supplier, dates and other relevant details. In here, we have also implemented blockchain by decentralizing the chain(Hyperledger has been utilized for the same)
MDS– This is a legacy system that has been enhanced for catalog management better.  
Branded Procurement- iOS version of web application. 
OMS– Then there is the Order Management System which handles PO, shipping, Invoicing, notifications, real time alerts etc. This system allows interoperability with legacy systems. 
Data Management– This is another critical application that provides a monitoring dashboard at distribution level.

Technology Stack

Java and Spring were used for backend development, Swift was used for iOS app development, and Blockchain had been used for further enhancement of the system.
